District solicits input to strengthen equity work

Input gathered in February from students, parents/caregivers and staff will inform District 279’s equity-focused strategic planning efforts. The district is partnering with the Midwest and Plains Equity Assistance Center (MAP Center) to help leaders understand to what extent equity is present in the school community. This work involves several data collection activities, including the completion of staff questionnaires, parent/caregiver and student questionnaires, and school site visits.

In a message to families, Supt. Cory McIntyre said, “I know you’ve received a number of surveys this school year, but I want to emphasize that this one is specifically designed to help us improve our work to ensure that every student and family will experience equitable practices in our school community.”

Information from completed questionnaires will be grouped and combined with other information to develop an overall district summary, to be prepared by the MAP Center. No identifying information will be shared in the district summary; only themes and trends will be summarized.

An email invitation to take the survey online was sent to all Osseo Area Schools enrolled families on Feb. 16. Parents/caregivers who prefer to fill out a paper version of the survey may contact Nanette Morgan at 763-391-7249 or MorganN@district279.org.

The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, Feb. 26.
